Post your self critique here for your most recent speech. What kinds of improvements could you have made individually? What kinds of improvements could you have made in the group message? What types of things worked with your message?
I think I made some really good improvements over my first speech. I felt more confident up in front of everyone and made much better eye contact. I spoke loud and clear, and I felt like I had a much better conversational style than last time. One improvement I could have made was varying my facial expression.
For our group, we forgot transitions which would have helped the speech flow better and inform the audience which steps were next. Another thing we could have done was come up with more in-depth ideas for the final statement in the conclusion.
I think that having the graphs and the statistical information was important to our message. We were able to elaborate on the information we had and make it feel relevant to everyone.
I feel confident in the way I delivered my persuasive speech, my only regret is having strayed from the formula a little bit. Aside from that, I feel like my citations were up to the requirements and I believe that my slides helped to support my points (even if my point was off-target.)
I've never been uncomfortable in front of large groups of people, so I wouldn't say I feel any more comfortable this time around.. I can, however, say that I felt a lot more organized with my thoughts having rehearsed much more on the delivery of this speech.
I think my conversational style & ability to communicate with the audience helped deliver my points, but again, those points were unfortunately off-target for what I was supposed to be delivering. A mistake I hope not to make in the future.
My delivery for this speech was a lot more effctive than in my first speech. Mainly because I didn't butcher the ending this time. I tried to give more eye contact and not read off notecards as much. I felt more confident and comfortable up there, which is a first for me. Even though I felt prepared, I was still apprehensive about how my group would do as a whole. I can't really critique my conversation style because once I'm standing infront of the class, I'm focused so much on saying what I have to say, that I'm not analyzing my self at all. One way I could have improved my speech is by giving a proper transition for the next speaker to come up.
My group did a great job. I liked how we incoroporated effective powerpoint slides and worked them into our speech nicely. Also, I think our main points were clear and you could easily translate from our need to our plan to our benefits. One thing we could have improved on was our conclusion. Maybe if we practiced the speech as a whole before-hand (not just our individual parts), we could have fixed that problem. Also, we didn't have any sort of transition from one person to the next. Again, practicing the speech would have probably taken care of that. Overall, I think we deserved an A-.
I agree with Serena. If we had practiced as a group, our conclusion could have been stronger. With practice. we probably could have discovered the issue with transitioning from person to person.
Individually I could have added a letter or petition to pass out to the class to strengthen our cause and the conclusion.
